WANTED: A Few Good Paddlers

GOT ALOHA?

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us on the water, even if it's just once, to 'get your feet wet'.            Men's, Women's and Mixed practices occur throughout the season on the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers       and the Jersey Shore.

Just drop us a line and we'll let you know when & where we'll be out.

All you need is an appetite for good fun! We'll supply the rest for your first couple of practices. If you decide that you'd like to join the Philadelphia Outrigger Canoe Club, one of our Coaches or Board Members will discuss membership dues and other goodies (like researching for gear) with you.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do I need previous  paddling experience?                                                                                                              A: Not at all.  We all have to start somewhere! Our Coaches and fellow Team Members will show you the ropes your first times out, providing you with the proper gear (life vest, paddle, etc.), safety instructions, basic technique and good old-fashioned encouragement.

Q: What if the canoe flips over?                                                                                                                                   A: If the canoe flips over, it's called a 'HULI'. Hulis happen occasionally. However, during regular practices on the Delaware or Schuylkill Rivers, the chances of flipping are slim to none especially with experienced paddlers in the canoe. Huli-ing is part of the outrigger experience and becomes part of team training.
